I am back with another mealtime hack. This is my time-saving tip to prepare ground beef for meals.
Last week I shared how I cut my mealtime prep in half by cooking chicken ahead of time and freezing it to get supper on the table super fast. Today I am sharing how I do the same thing with ground beef and I am telling you that this hack will change your life!
If you already have your meat cooked, you can throw a meal together in minutes. Think of all the meals you can throw together quickly tacos, spaghetti, chili, sloppy joes, hamburger helper, and any recipe that calls for ground beef. On Saturday afternoons, we can make tacos as quickly as making sandwiches. Plus, my family thinks I cooked for them!
I have learned many time-saving cooking tips from being a wife and mom for so long and also from Culinary School. This one is what I learned from having to cook all the time.
I purchase the large packages of ground beef from one of my favorite stores. Cook the meat all at once. It usually takes three batches of meat in my large frying pan. I cook my meat slightly underdone because it will cook again when you reheat it for your meal.
When I drain the meat, I place it in a bowl lined well with foil. This is a super tip for easy cleanup. After the grease has cooled, I wrap the foil with the grease up and throw it in my garbage. The bowl should be clean and grease free.
I measure 2 cups of meat and place it into a freezer bag. You can use kitchen scales to measure if you would like. I label and date the bags before placing them in the freezer. Another tip is to line the bags up or place them in a plastic container so that you can see how many bags you have left and also, for easy reach.
This time-saving tip to prepare ground beef for meals has changed my life which has made dinner time less stressful for this mom!
