I have a confession. I use to think in my teens that if I didn’t have a packet of hot chocolate I couldn’t make hot chocolate. Same thing for tacos and chili mix. I have learned that most things are better homemade than in the pre-mixed packets and so much healthier. I battle wanting something sweet after dinner every night and it is hard to get out of the habit of having something sweet. Making my own sugar-free hot chocolate satisfies the craving.

Use any kind of milk that suits your diet for sugar-free single cup hot chocolate.

Milk of your choice

Cocoa Powder

The great thing about making a single cup of hot chocolate is that you can use any type of milk you need. I try to eat keto as much as possible and I adjust the recipe for the keto diet. My husband likes to eat sugar-free so I can make his cup to suit his diet. So if you want to make this recipe keto and dairy-free use almond milk or cashew milk.

I like to use sugar-free syrups in the hot chocolate.

Directions


I like to use sugar-free syrups in my hot chocolate but you can use any sugar substitute.

Cocoa for hot chocolate.

Add the cocoa to the cup before the warm milk.

Warm the milk.

Heat milk on stovetop or microwave and add to the cup.

Whisk or mix the cocoa and milk.

Mix with whisk or coffee frother. I find that the coffee frother mixes the cocoa and milk very well.

Sugar-free single cup hot chocolate is easy to make and delicious.

  • 1 cup Milk or Almond Milk
  • 1 tbsp cocoa
  • 2 tsp sugar-free syrup or 2 packets of sugar substitute

Instructions

  1. Add cocoa to cup.

  2. Heat milk on stovetop or microwave.

  3. Pour milk in a cup with the cocoa and mix well.

  4. Add sugar-free syrup or sugar substitute and stir.
