It really bothers me when I go to the store and purchase a spice that I am going to use in my recipe, to come home and see a full jar in my pantry when I am putting my groceries away. When my spices are stored on a cabinet shelf, it is hard to see what spices I have on hand.  I have finally found a way to store my spices that makes cooking for me much easier.

I store them in a kitchen drawer so when I open it, my ingredient is super easy to find.  Just write the what is in the jar on the top with a paint pen. You can find the pens at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.   I love to buy my spices from Penzys in Homewood.  Their prices are very reasonable, and if you need refills, you can purchase them in small plastic bags for much less.  They also sell the empty spice jars for about $1.  I have seen on Pinterest where some people use baby food jars and spray the lids with black chalkboard paint.
