It is time for the One Room Challenge Week Four Lake House Bedroom update.
Just a reminder of what the One Room Challenge is. The One Room Challenge or the ORC is a challenge where participants get to show how they transform a space in a few weeks. Better Home and Gardens is the media partner for the ORC. It is a bi-yearly challenge that usually lasts 6 weeks. This year’s challenge this year is like no other One Room Challenge because of the quarantine for the Covid-19 virus. We are encouraged to use what we have because most states still have some level of shelter in place. Also, I am going to spend as little as I possibly can because we do not know what effect this quarantine will have on my husband’s business.
You can see the inspiration on the One Room Challenge Week 1 blog post.
Week 4 is a rough week for me. In February, we had a new concrete slab poured at our back door. While I was carrying stuff into the house, my ankle rolled in the gravel and my face hit the concrete. Although I am okay, my face hit so hard that it shattered both lenses on my glasses. I have stayed off my feet all week and I am very thankful for the extra weeks. I did do several projects at home but I am going to photograph the projects when I have them styled in the bedroom. All of the pictures this week are taken with my phone and with the lights on so the colors are off a little. With my hurt foot, I could not stand up to take photographs with my good cameral.
Projects that I did do.I made two large pillows for the lake house bedroom. The pillows are not completely sewn together because I want to see how it all looks first.
I realize that the middle pillows do not work. I plan on making another floral pillow and two smaller pillows with different fabric. A cream-colored linen pillow might work better.
My husband also installed both of the wall sconces that came from Inline Lighting. He is in the lighting business and he went to the showroom to pick out the sconces. Because of the virus and the trouble with shipping materials, we chose something that they had in the showroom. The lighting choice was made by face timing my husband. I told him that it was okay if he found two of the same fixtures in different materials because I would spray paint them. He laughed and asked me not to say that out loud on facetime because they would die if I spray painted their fixtures. I do feel like they are going to work well in the room.
Two side tables were found at HomeGoods and I am not sure how I feel about them. The wood is beautiful and I do love the legs. If I don’t find any that I like better, I will keep these.
