It is the One Room Challenge-Week 3-Lake House bedroom and I got so many projects completed this week.
Just a reminder of what the One Room Challenge is. The One Room Challenge or the ORC is a challenge where participants get to show how they transform a space in a few weeks. Better Home and Gardens is the media partner for the ORC. It is a bi-yearly challenge that usually lasts 6 weeks. This year’s challenge this year is like no other One Room Challenge because of the quarantine for the Covid-19 virus. We are encouraged to use what we have because most states still have some level of shelter in place. Also, I am going to spend as little as I possibly can because we do not know what effect this quarantine will have on my husband’s business.
My room is at our lake house 45 minutes away. I have been working as much as I can at home. This is the first time during the challenge that we are going to spend the weekend at the lake to work.
The One Room Challenge Week One post has more information about the plan for the room.
My husband and I packed the car full.
Boards for vertical shiplap
Rug
Table Saw
Miter Saw
Drills and Screwdrivers
Wallpaper and adhesive
Lots of paint and supplies
Decor and Bedding
Camera and equipment
The Dog
Vertical Shiplap
I had Home Depot cut my boards before I took them to the lake. By doing this, I can fit the boards into my car. I will have a tutorial on the vertical shiplap coming soon. The boards were primed and painted outside.
The vertical shiplap is installed at about 5 feet high.
I added a small shelf that sits on top of the vertical shiplap. The baseboards have been cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint. After I installed the painted boards to the wall, I realize that the baseboard on the shiplap wall needs to be painted the same color as the shiplap. This will be done this weekend along with painting the doors a neutral color and changing the fan.
My husband removed the old sink and vanity for me. I received my new sink this week and it is perfect. The sink is a wall mount sink and it is very small. As a result, we will have much more room in the world’s tiniest bathroom.
My waterfall faux concrete table has been built. I also applied the faux concrete technique to the table and I love how it turned out. I will share the completed table pictures and the tutorial in the next few weeks. It is so good.
A few weeks ago, I took a screenshot of two lamps that I want. They are black with the found pottery look. While making a quick run through the thrift store, I found two lamps with the exact same shape for $6.99 each. I will do the found pottery technique to the lamps.
The One Room Challenge Week 3 lake house bedroom makeover is done. Next week will be tutorials for the projects.
