Welcome to Week Three of the One Room Challenge where I am creating a new outdoor space at our lake house.

Inspiration

One Room Challenge or the ORC is a challenge where participants get to show how they transform a space in a few weeks. Apartment Therapy is the media partner for the ORC. It is a bi-yearly challenge that will last 8 weeks. This will be my 3rd time participating in this challenge. You can see Week One with all of the before pictures and my inspiration for the space. I have chosen to do a space at our lake which makes it a little harder since it is 40 minutes from our home.

The One Room Challenge Week One

Before

We worked hard this weekend but we made a lot of progress. Every single weekend when we drive home from the lake we say that the hardest work is behind us and that’s not been true. Hopefully, this time it is true.

While I was caulking and painting all of the white soffits and trim, I decided to go ahead and paint all of the soffits and trim on the entire house. I figured as long as I had the paint and ladder out, I might as well just do it and I am so glad I did. Nothing better than a fresh coat of paint on the exterior to make the house feel clean.

The Outdoor Kitchen

It took us a while to design the outdoor kitchen.

For the countertop, we will be using our old black granite from a kitchen remodel in the home we live in. We also have an outdoor refrigerator that we will be installing. I will do a post on exactly how we built the outdoor kitchen when we finish.

I plan to drive to the lake this week and work on my DIY concrete table. My husband can only work on Sunday afternoon so we will work on the outdoor kitchen then. Check back next week to see what we get done.
