It’s the last week of the One Room Challenge where I am creating a lake house outdoor space. I finished early and I can’t wait for the reveal next week. This week was so fun because I got to style and decorate the space.

What is the One Room Challenge?

The One Room Challenge or the ORC is a challenge where participants get to show how they transform a space in a few weeks. Apartment Therapy is the media partner for the ORC. It is a bi-yearly challenge that will last 8 weeks. This will be my 3rd time participating in this challenge. You can see Week One with all of the before pictures and my inspiration for the space. I have chosen to do a space at our lake which makes it a little harder since it is 40 minutes from our home.

Inspiration

Here’s the problem. Remember, the lake house is 40 minutes away from my home where I have my computer. I photographed the entire space this past weekend. After bringing my camera home and looking at my photos, I realized that I am standing in the reflection in the window. You can see me and my tripod in the photos so I guess I will be going back to the lake house tomorrow to reshoot.

This week I completed several DIY projects.

DIY Faux Concrete Coffee Table.

This thrifted pink table was turned into a faux concert table with spray paint.

Outdoor Kitchen

We finished the outdoor kitchen which is the project that I doubted the most. My husband and I are so proud of it. We used a lot of materials that we already had so we came under budget for the kitchen. We have been saving the black granite from our kitchen remodel for several years. Thankfully, some neighbors and some friends helped us lift the granite to transport it to the lake. I will share more of how we built the kitchen during the reveal next week.

THE TO-DO LIST

  • Finished staining all of the new wood.
  • Plant Grass and move pea gravel
  • Clean, caulk, and paint windows and trim
  • New fans
  • Make a wreath
  • Caulk and paint door and trim
  • Build outdoor kitchen
  •  3 large outdoor rugs
  • Assemble new outdoor seating set
  • Outdoor dining table, seating, and dishes
  • Gas firepit
  • DIY a concrete coffee table
  • DIY outdoor pillows
  • Possibly add a bar table and bar stools if we have the space
  • Add plants and planters
  • Redo the landscaping in front
  • String lights
  • Hang TV

The fire pit and the TV may not happen for the reveal.

Check back next week to see the reveal of the lake house outdoor space!
