It’s Week 6 for the One Room Challenge where I am making over our lake house outdoor space.

What is the One Room Challenge?

The One Room Challenge or the ORC is a challenge where participants get to show how they transform a space in a few weeks. Apartment Therapy is the media partner for the ORC. It is a bi-yearly challenge that will last 8 weeks. This will be my 3rd time participating in this challenge. You can see Week One with all of the before pictures and my inspiration for the space. I have chosen to do a space at our lake which makes it a little harder since it is 40 minutes from our home.

Week 6

Here’s the problem when participating in an ORC challenge that is at another location. We have practically brought our entire workshop to the lake. All of our saws and tools are here. We keep saying that we might as well fix or build something while all of our tools are here. The good thing is that I feel like we have been forced to finish all of our projects and it feels so good!

WE FINISHED THE OUTDOOR KITCHEN!

I am so excited. I had my doubts. We started with a plan. We gave up on the plan, threw the plan away, and just winged it.

One Room Challenge Outdoor Space Week 6

I can’t wait to share the outdoor kitchen in two weeks.

The truth is the kitchen is almost complete. We have to add the large piece of granite to the top. My husband, son, and I thought that we could lift it into the truck to take to the lake house. We could not budge it so we are recruiting some friends to help this weekend. I am a little nervous.

I am not going to share the final picture but here is a shot of the kitchen being built. I will have more information on how we built the outdoor kitchen during the reveal in two weeks.

The DIY coffee table is finished. Of course, I am not going to share the finished coffee table yet but I will show the “before” picture. It turned out so good! I bought the pink table from a thrift store for around $10. My family says it looks like an elephant stand from the circus. They are going to be surprised to see it finished.

Check next week for more progress on the space.
