Did you know that you can update a ceiling fan without removing it? You can totally makeover the fan using spray paint. The ugly brass fan screamed the 1990s. I wanted more light in my room so we added a light kit to our old ceiling fan. It really was an easier project than we thought.

My husband works so hard that I hate to have a honey-do list for when he comes home. We try to update our home as easily and quickly as we can. We are always searching YouTube for how to do all our home projects. I have found that somebody out there has already done the project and is willing to show you how. The great thing about this update is that we did not have to remove the fan and take it down. Our ceiling fans are original to the 1993 home. I am slowly changing and updating the fans.

Paint your old ceiling fan without taking the fan down.

Remove the Blades.

First, turn off your power to be safe. Remove the blades with a screwdriver. Also, remove the cover if you are painting it. I did not have to remove mine because it was white.

Unscrew the metal parts from the fan blades. Clean the fan blades and all of the parts well. Spray paint the metal parts the color of your choice. The blades can also be painted if they need to. My light kit came from Lowes. It was another color and I spray painted it gold. I did find a similar light kit on Amazon. My fan was cheap brass and I used a more modern colored gold spray paint.

After the paint has dried, reassemble your ceiling fan.

Updating your ceiling fan without removing it is such an easy way to update your home. As a result, it saved us money than we can use on another project.
