I have had this microsuede ottoman for several years, and it does not match my decor anymore.

I can’t get rid of it because it holds some very important stuff.  It holds our favorite college football team shakers, and if we lose a game, my family will say it’s because I got rid of the shaker holder.  No lie!  We are the people who change from our team shirt to a different team shirt if we start losing.  If we start out on a winning streak, we continue to wear the team shirt that we started with.  It’s loud and crazy here on Game Day, and not everyone can handle watching the game with my crew, but we do have fun!

I wanted to makeover the ottoman with a white or cream colored fur material, but fur material cost more than I wanted to spend.  In fact, I probably would pay close to what a new ottoman would cost me.  So, I headed to the Thrift Store to look for some furry fabric that someone may have donated from a leftover project.  I did not see any so I went to plan B.  Plan B is to look for something in the store that has light colored fur on it.  I glanced through the coats, then I headed to the blankets and throws. I found this throw that had fur on one side.  It looked large enough to cover the ottoman, and it looked like it had never been used.  The best part is it is only $1.99!

I came home, threw it in the washer, and cut the fur side off the throw.

I wrapped the throw around the ottoman and glued it with spray adhesive that you can purchase from Walmart or a craft store.  It worked perfectly.

I covered and glued the top as well.

If you haven’t noticed yet, when I am making over something, I always try to think of how I can do it as cheaply as possible.  You have to be careful not to spend more than it would cost you to purchase it new.  In 20 minutes, I have given my microsuede ottoman a $2 makeover.

And just like that, the shakers are back in their home.  Just in time for the first game of the season…..and all is right in the world…..well, in my family’s world, anyway!

Wow!!! Really impressive! Cheap and it matches your decor perfectly! Even more important, it won’t mess up your team’s season, that would be a huge responsibility to bear!!! I love the look.
