You can easily makeover a table runner with fringe from a thrift store poncho and glue.

When my kids were young, I wanted to use the same Christmas decorations every year because I wanted them to have memories of Christmas when they were younger.

My mother is still using the same decorations that she has used all my life.  I love to go to her house and see her tree with all of the ornaments that we made when we were little. Some of them are falling apart, but she still puts them on her tree.

I still use all the ornaments my children made on our tree. Now that my children are older, I do change my decor almost every year, and that is why I like to spend as little as possible. I can’t afford all new things every single year because I would much rather spend my money on gifts.

I am loving the rustic woodsy Christmas decor and especially all the plaid that I am seeing everywhere. I found this plaid runner for $1 at the Thrift Store.

I also purchased a poncho with fringe on it for $2.  I knew I could use that fringe on stockings and pillows also.

This way is so much cheaper than purchasing something like this from a fabric store.

I cut off a section of the fringe and glued it to the end of the runner right on the table so in a couple of minutes, I had this awesome plaid runner with white fringe trim.

My father-in-law gave me these rustic dishes for Christmas about 10 years ago.  I haven’t used them in years, but they are perfect now for my rustic Christmas table.

Keep in mind when decorating for Christmas that you can always makeover your own decorations or things you purchase from a Thrift Store easily and cheaply!

Sherry I miss thrift stores. There are some here but it’s nothing compared to the ones I visited in Canada. I really agree with trying to make over what you have and giving it new life and often I find things in the spanish dollar store that I can change up a bit so it goes with my style. That’s so much fun! Your tablerunner looks lovely with the fringe, how clever to use that poncho and what a great deal on both!!!

Perfect! Love the contrast of the plaid and the white fringe, it looks like a cozy scarf! 🙂 Thank you for linking up to Funtastic Friday

I love, love, love the rustic look you’ve got going Sherry. Everything just looks perfect. I can just picture everyone sitting around the table and talking about all the beautiful memories of Christmas’s past and future.
