People always say that I am creative, and I think that I am a creative, but the reason that I have a some skills is because I have learned how to find the best online craft classes.
Growing up, I attended a school in the country. We did not have the best school, but one thing we did have was lots of crafty classes. The last period of the day was called Exploratory. Every 6 weeks, you signed up for a different Exploratory class. I remember taking sewing, embroidery, art, leather craft, ceramics, macrame, cooking, and dance. I even took an after school knitting class at a local knitting shop. I also saved my money, purchased a sewing machine and took sewing lessons. You have to remember that back in the 70’s, we did not have a lot to do, so doing crafts was a great thing to occupy our time.
I have always had a desire to know how to do everything that I want to do. Some of the classes that I have taken as an adult are art, cake decorating, fitness instructor classes, personal trainer certification classes, baking, knitting, medical transcription certification, photography, lightroom, dance, and Culinary School Graduate.
My daughter uses a wheelchair, and I drive her everywhere. One day I took her to take a final test at college, and the test happened to be on registration day. I told her to take her time on her test because I will find something to do. I will never forget when she finished her test and came out the elevator to meet me, the doors opened up and I was standing there with my school books in my arm, and I said, “Guess what? I am in Culinary School!” She just shook her head and said, “I can’t take you anywhere.”
I am saying this to say that you do not have to have a God given talent. You can take classes and learn like I have done. I am super frugal, but I believe that paying to learn something is money well spent! It is so overwhelming to search for classes and not know if they are good or if they are a fit for what you want to learn. I had been hearing lots of great things about online craft classes called Craftsy. I research the classes and ended up taking the Photography and Lightroom class. I am extremely pleased with the class, and I am wanting to make more money just so I can take the rest of the Photography and Editing classes.
They have art, knitting, sewing, jewelry, cake decorating, photography and many more classes. The classes start at a beginner level and go through at a pace where you can learn. You also keep the videos so that you can go back and watch them.
Craftsy also has supplies and kits and great prices. For example, I want to make these crochet baskets. The kit comes with the color of yarn you choose and the pattern for $12.99.
I will tell you that I am an affiliate for Craftsy, and I will make a small compensation for sales, but I promise that is not why I wrote this post. I wrote this post because I want to teach others how to DIY, and I believe you can save money by learning new skills. There is a great feeling of accomplishment when you make something yourself.
I will always be honest with you, and I want to share all the information that I find helpful with you. If you would like to look at the classes, click on the banner.
