I have never used a theme because of the Christmases I had growing up. My mother loves Christmas more than anyone I know. Every year, she made decorating the tree a big deal with our one Christmas album playing, and us reminiscing over every ornament we pulled out of the box. She always used the ornaments that we handmade as children. Now, I am in my fifties and my kindergarten ornaments are still hanging on her tree.
Directions
Roll a small ball of clay for the body and a smaller ball for the head. You do not have to use toothpicks but that is a great trick that I learned when I made cake decorations. The toothpick will help hold the pieces together. Stick the toothpick in the body and add the head on top of the body. I add a little glue to secure the head and body.
Form a little carrot shaped nose with the clay.
Make little paw shaped hands and feet. I broke a toothpick and stuck it in the hands and feet.
Stick the hands and feet into the snowman’s body. I added a tiny dot of glue underneath the hands and feet. I laid the snowmen on their back while the glue dried.
Let your little snowmen sleep overnight on the ball. Make sure there is no wet glue on the snowmen because you will never get them off the ball to paint them (I softly press the snowman on the ball so that it will give it the shape that it needs when you do finally glue him onto the ball.
I painted his nose, hat, and scarf, but I am sure you could do this with colored Sharpies also.
Here is a tip: I glued the ones I made years ago, and the glue ran down the sides and took the finish off the ball. That is why I recommended the glue I used this time. Whatever glue you use to glue your snowman on, make sure it doesn’t run.
I hope you or your children love making this ornament. This is the kind of ornament that I would use on my tree every single year.
Merry Christmas Y’all!

These are so precious. I was curious to know what the snowman was made from. I also love the traditional tree with handcrafted and treasured ornaments. This one is a treasure.

I love your little snowman ornament! My kiddos and I made some of those little snowmen when they were younger, but I love the idea of putting them on the ornaments.
This little ornament swap is such a great idea. Which ornament did you get?
Have a great weekend.
