Kitchen Measurement Chart

Even though I have been to Culinary School and had kitchen measurements drilled in my head, I still have to think about it when I am working on a recipe.  Since I am obsessed with chalkboards right now, I thought I would put a measurement chart on a chalkboard so it will be easy to see, and I don’t have to think hard.  I found this measurement chart from Jillee at One Good Thing’s blog.  You can print it out here.  This is a really easy and fun project to do.

I love the mason jars and measuring cups used in the chart above.  Then I thought, “Hey, that it would be so cute to make a DIY chalkboard paint kitchen measurement chart.

When I see a canvas or painted board in good condition that is a size that I like at the thrift store, for one one or two dollars, I grab it because I know that I will want to use it later.  It is way cheaper than buying a new blank canvas.

I spray it with black or white spray paint and paint over it.  It is much cheaper to do it this way, and if I mess up, it doesn’t really bother me.  I can just paint over the whole thing again and start over again .  You can paint with a brush, but it is much easier and quicker with spray paint.  Then, I painted one coat of chalkboard paint over my spray painted coat.  I used the chalkboard paint from Michaels that you find with the acrylic bottles of paint.  It is about two dollars.

I cut the shapes out and traced it onto my canvas using a paint pen from Walmart.

I was not too happy with my handwriting on one section, so I just used tape and foil and spray painted over it.
