This is a simple chunky knitted snowman pattern that is so much fun to knit. Since you use chunky yarn and extra large knitting needles, it makes this project much quicker to knit. The cozy chunky throws and blankets are very popular right now.
Do you want to build a snowman? Okay, you can with yarn and knitting needles.

Don’t you just love the huge arm knitted throws that are everywhere? These blankets are gorgeous so I decided to knit a large snowman for Christmas and this pattern uses knitting needles instead of your arms. I used to knit snowmen when I was a preteen and knitting is like riding a bike, the snowman kind of came back to me except this time I used circular needles. The great thing that we have now that we didn’t have years ago are YouTube tutorials. If there is a stitch you don’t remember, you can watch a one to two-minute video to show you how.
I can’t sit still so when my family and I are watching football on the weekends, I knit. You can dress up your snowman any way you like. Add buttons on his tummy if you would like.
What’s great about this is that you can dress up your snowman any way you like. For instance, I used leftover yarn that I had from previous projects for his scarf and hat. You could also add buttons on his tummy if you would like.
Start with his body. The only tricky thing about this entire pattern is that you cast 18 stitches onto circular needles and 18 stitches is a stretch on circular needles. If that is difficult for you, you can start your snowman on double-pointed needles. Then move your work to circular needles after you increase your stitches.

Whatever size needles you use, you need to use the same size with body, arms, and hat of the snowman!

Chunky Snowman Pattern
Optional: You can build a base for the snowman to sit on if you desire. After I stuffed him, I sat him onto the wood base. As a result, he stands up straight.
