I am so excited to be participating in the $100 Room Challenge for the third time. You can see my First Challenge and my Second Challenge.
I want to thank Erin at Lemon’s, Lavender, and Laundry for creating and organizing this challenge. It is my very favorite room makeover challenge because first of all, it doesn’t cost much and secondly, you have to really get creative. If you think about it, a rug or a can of paint can cost half of your budget.
This is my laundry room now. My house was built in 1993 and we purchased this house in 2002 and we have not updated this room except for replacing the floors when we moved in.
This room is right off the kitchen and you enter from our garage into this room. I love the size of the laundry room but it really needs to be updated. We should have painted the cabinets while we were remodeling our kitchen but we were too tired from that job. Painting cabinets are not for the weak!
The plan is to paint the cabinets white with the leftover paint from the kitchen. I will update the floors with a paint technique but it will not require a stencil. I am going to freehand the pattern. I will add a diy backsplash behind the sink and I am planning on this costing less than $5.
I will not replace the old sink because this is where I wash all my paint brushes. I paint a lot so it would not make sense to put in a new sink. I may do something with the countertops depending on how it looks when I get most of the work done. I might add wallpaper or do a paint technique to one wall. I just need to see what the room looks like after the cabinets and the floors have been painted.
Plan
Paint cabinets with a paint sprayer.
Add a backsplash over the sink.
Paint floor.
Change hardware.

Can’t wait to see how you free hand the floor pattern and back splash. Am thinking I would like to do something similar for our kitchen back splash but have been too chicken to even attempt it. Happy painting!
