It is time for the $100 Room Challenge-Boy’s Bedroom Week 1 to begin. This is a challenge that is created and organized by Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry. This will be my fourth time to participate in this challenge. This is a challenge that happens twice a year where a group of talented bloggers completely makeover a room and can not spend more than $100. I love this challenge because you really have to get creative to makeover a room with a $100 budget. We have four weeks to complete this challenge and we all will be posting updates every Wednesday during the month of September. I am always blown away by the participant’s room makeovers.
I am used to doing DIY projects and budget shopping to have a home I love because I like to change my home decor often. My husband says that the only thing at our house that is guaranteed to be the same when he comes home from work is our address. He’s correct.
For this challenge, I will be making over my son’s room.
This room makeover is way overdue and I really think that it is going to be amazing. The room has been this greige color for years and is beginning to look dull. I am going to paint the room white with an accent wall behind the bed. I am removing this bed and replacing the bed with a queen-size bed. We already have the queen mattresses that we will be moving from another room.
I purchased a mid-century modern dresser and nightstand from a thrift store a few years ago that will be staying in the room. The Ikea chest will be staying in the room.
The Inspiration Board
Putting together a mood board is going to show the direction of the room that I am going to aim for. I have an idea for all of the things that I want to go into the room but I don’t have the budget for these items so I will be getting creative by doing several DIY projects and hitting up the thrift stores. Keeping this mood board in mind will help me when I go thrifting to look for like items that will work in the room. If everything goes as planned, this will be my favorite room makeover in my home.
The Plan
Paint 3 walls white
Create an accent wall
Sew bedding
Paint art
Sew Curtains
Build bench
