Sherry’s Favorite Things-Shoppers Guide
Today my 7 best friends from my blog squad are sharing our favorite things for Christmas. I am telling you that these ladies have fabulous taste. Just check out their blogs and you will see. I hope you find the perfect gift that you are looking for in our gift round-up!
We all have a thing, right? My thing is kitchen tools. I went to Culinary School when I was 46 years old because cooking is my thing. I love the saying, “Love people, feed them good food.” That is what I love to do and that is what I spend my money on. It is so hard to know what brand of appliance or tool is best. One thing a chef told me helped with my kitchen shopping. He said, different brands specialize in a certain tool and that is what you should buy. KitchenAid is known for mixers, Cuisinart for food processors, Wolf and Viking for stoves, Bosche for dishwashers… Well, that made my shopping easier. Here is a list of my favorite, can’t cook without items. I have listed a few larger items and a few lower priced items for you.
I don’t think there is a kitchen gift list without a KitchenAid Mixer out there. This is the Cadillac of gifts. Honestly, I could not live without mine. Not only do they make perfect mashed potatoes but you can even shred chicken in 2 seconds. Plus all the attachments are amazing. I have the potato peeler that makes the spiral potatoes on my wish list. I am showing the 5-quart mixer because it is under $200 and it will fit under my cabinets. You can get the larger 6-quart, but you need to see if it fits where you plan to store it or display it.
I love my Keurig K10 Mini because my kids can easily prepare one cup of hot chocolate, tea, or coffee when I am not at home. I love that it takes up little counter space.
I received this 36 Capacity Coffee Storage for Christmas from my husband last year. It is the perfect gift for the person who loves organization.
I purchased this Cuisinart Griddler last year, and I love it so much that I bought my mother-in-law one. She loves hers so much that she bought her best friend one for Christmas. This griddle makes the best grilled cheese sandwiches. It cooks bacon perfectly. The thing I love about this is that I can purchase the frozen burgers from Sams and my kids can throw a frozen patty on the griddle with the top down, and they have a burger in 4 minutes!
This is a utensil caddy, y’all! How awesome is this? I do not own this but I want to own this. This caddy would be a perfect gift for a mother or grandmother. You can fill the caddy with a few utensils for a wonderful gift.
I can not cook without my bamboo wooden spoons. Mine have lasted very well. I have heard not to put wooden spoons in the dishwasher but I have been doing it for years. These would look so pretty given as a gift with the Mason Jar Caddy.
I did not know about this wonderful gadget until I went to Culinary School and used it for everything. A Microplane is perfect for zesting citrus fruit. I also use it for cheeses and for shaving chocolate bars, but my favorite thing is to store my fresh ginger in the freezer (it will keep for a long time). I just take my frozen ginger and scrape it over my pan. Also, you can zest lemon peel over your cooked dish for amazing flavor. Try it over sauteed spinach, your kids will eat it!
I am pretty mad that I didn’t think of this lasagna pan first. This is so great if you have an extremely picky family like I do. You can customize the recipe for each picky person. I can make mine low carb with zucchini instead of pasta. I can add veggies like spinach. I can make one gluten-free. This lasagna pan is the bomb!
Now, for my favorite gift ever! My husband and I just purchased our new roommate named Alexa! This is so cool. When we awake, we say, “Alexa, what is the weather? Alexa, can you give me the news briefly?” You can ask it anything that you would ask Suri. You can also say, “Alexa, play my favorite song, Hallelujah by Pentatonix.” and the sound is amazing. I think we may be getting on Alexa’s nerves because we are having so much fun with it. The price is a little over $100. We are in the process of adding the accessories so that we don’t have to get out of bed to turn on the fan or turn out the light. We are going to be the laziest people ever! The item called the Echo. Here is the link for the Echo. We purchased a refurbished one from Amazon for less. You may want to click on my link and see if you can find a refurbished one for a little less.
Sherry’s favorite things-shopping guide is a list of items that any cook will love to receive this year. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and don’t forget the reason for the season!
